NFU Cymru welcomes Bluetongue clarification
Back to News

NFU Cymru has welcomed further clarification from the Welsh Assembly Government that Wales will not be declared a Bluetongue Protection Zone before Sunday, 31 August 2008.

Dai Davies, NFU Cymru President said, "We are very grateful to the Welsh Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Christianne Glossop, for confirming that Bluetongue vaccine will not be available to Welsh farmers before 31 August. We have said all along that farmers need to be kept informed of the situation so they can plan their businesses accordingly.

"I also reiterate Dr Glossop's message that farmers must prepare to vaccinate now if they have not already done so. Don't hesitate – vaccinate."
