Animal health and trading standards officers are investigating the death of about 60 cattle at a farm near the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

A spokesman for Suffolk County Council said final veterinary reports are still awaited, but there is no ongoing concerns regarding the remainder of the herd.

“Suffolk Trading Standards has received anonymous information about the welfare of livestock located on the North/Suffolk border,” he said.

“We are working with animal health organisations to investigate this matter further, and individuals with an interest in the farm animals are implementing veterinary advice concerning the health of the animals at the farm.”

Katya Mira of the RSPCA said: “We are very concerned to hear about this upsetting incident and are happy to help Trading Standards with any assistance they may need.”

No further details were released.
